Cinema Under the Stars
The Duke of Marlborough, Russell Sat 15 December, 8.30pm
Bring your picnic blanket and set up shop to watch the brilliant family movie “Cool Runnings” outside on the Duke of Marlborough Tavern’s back lawn. This is the only outdoor cinema in the Bay.

Hell-Hole of the Pacific
Russell, Sat-Sun 15-16 Dec
Celebrating Kororareka’s Infamous Past! Fun, food and history – street theatre and the Delectable, Delightful Drink Concoction Contest  from 3pm on Saturday.

Entry by way of pre-purchased wine glass ($20) from the Fat Pig Vineyard Cellar Door or from the Fat Pig Wine Cellar shop in the Maritime Building on the Paihia wharf. Enjoy the JP Package band playing easy listening music and a bit of rock, while trying wines from 8 of Kerikeri’s finest vineyards. Wine sales by the glass and bottle. Chefs from Ake Ake, Food at Wharpuke, The Gables, Neat Eats and Dis de Lish will have wonderful food for you to purchase on the day.
 
Russell Santa Parade
Sat 22 Dec
The Russell Santa Parade will wind round the streets of Russell for young and old to cheer. Santa will disembark his sleigh at the Duke of Marlborough Tavern to go out back on the lawn and enjoy some good old fashion Christmas spirit. There will be carols, snow on the lawn, live music and so much more. So be good for goodness sake.

Join us for the Bay of Islands only outdoor cinema to watch the magical family movie “ET”. For just $5 per person (weather permitting) you can sit back with your family and watch “ET” phone home. Bring a picnic blanket, buy a bottle of wine from the bar and burgers / fish n chips from the restaurant and treat yourself and relax, your night is sorted. (Please turn your mobiles “off” so to ensure “ET” does get signal and can phone home).
 
New Year’s Eve Pirate Party
Urupukapuka Island, 31 Dec
Destination Northland
It’s that time againfor a big night out on the island. Otehei Bay will be holding its annual Pirates Party on Urupukapuka Island. Tickets for the night can be purchased at Ticketmaster. NZ’s premier covers band Catch 22, plus a mixture of DJs will be playing. Ferry tickets, if required, can be purchased through Explore NZ or by phoning 0800DOLPHIN. Ferry will leave from Paihia at 6.30pm and again at 8.00pm and leave the island at 12.30am and 2.00am. Cost is $40 return.
 
Bay of Islands Tallships Race 2013

A spectacle of sail and a light hearted (yeah right!) race of classic vessels organised by the Russell Boat Club, Bay of Islands. Followed by a prizegiving and traditional hangi at the Russell Boat Club with bands and dancing till late. 
 
Rainbow Warrior in Matauri Bay

The New Rainbow Warrior will be making a trip to Matauri Bay where her predecessor lies. This will be a beautiful day on the water. R Tucker Thompson is taking passengers, drive to Matauri Bay or find yourself a boat to hop on!

Tues 8th: Bay Beach Hire “Fun on the Green”, 10.00am, Village Green for old fashioned races, Anne of Craicor “Wearable Arts” 1pm, Paihia School Marae 
Weds 9th: Bay Beach Hire Mini Duathalon, 10am Paihia Beach at Bay Beach Hire, Cellini’s Street Smart Funky Art Pavement Drawing at 2pm, Paihia Post Office Mall 
Thurs 10th: Waitangi Mystery Trail, 11am, Waitangi Treaty Grounds Main Entrance, Zumba with Dance Body Language! Paihia School Whare 2pm on
Fri 11th: Paihia Dive Kids Fishing Competition, Paihia Wharf, register at Paihia Dive on Williams Rd from 9.30am. Fishing starts 10.30am and finishes at 11.30am. Flippa Ball 2.00pm, Panorama Resort, Haruru Falls 
Sat 12th: Classic Hits Sandcastle Competition 
Sun 13th: Rotary Club Beach Dig  Midday, Paihia Beach followed by Haven of History Games

The Bay of Islands is one of the top sailing destinations in the world

The CRC Bay of Islands Sailing Week is one of New Zealand's most popular yachting events. The regatta is open to keelers, multi-hulls, trailer sailers, sports and open keelboats, with competitive racing over three days. Cruising yachts and crews are encouraged to join the competition in the passage divisions sailing one bay race a day. Every year hundreds of competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy an amazing array of course options amongst some of the most beautiful sailing waters New Zealand has to offer.
 
Honey Jam Music Festival
Te Kowhai Point Farm, Kerikeri, Sat 26 Jan
It’s new, it’s hip, it’s the Honey-Jam Music Festival. A sensational line-up over two days featuring Supergroove, Batucada Sound Machine, the Thomas Oliver Band, 1814, Iva Lamkum, the Nudge, Bonjah, Lydia Cole, Young Lyre, Louis Baker, Guest DJ’s and further acts still to be announced.
 
The Last Ocean hosted by Fish Forever and Living Waters
Thurs 31 Jan ,Turner Centre, Kerikeri $5
Through Peter Young’s lens, the Antarctic looks wild and wonderful”. The Bay of Islands Maritime Park will be screening The Last Ocean on Blu-Ray at the Turner Centre in Kerikeri on 31st January. In this award-winning documentary by New Zealand director Peter Young beautiful, ethereal ocean is captured in breath-taking cinematography.
