Bay of Islands Guide

The subtropical beauty of The Bay of Islands NZ is an extremely popular holiday destination. It's known for its stunning coastal scenery and wildlife; its warm waters, sandy beaches and beautiful islands.

There is wide range of activities on offer in The Bay of Islands NZ region with something to suit every taste! One of the best ways to experience the bay is by getting out on the water and among the islands. Sailing, cruising and fishing rank high on the list, not to mention kayak and jetski tours.
But don’t forget that the Bay viewed from above is just as exquisite; take a helicopter ride, a scenic flight or a skydive over the Bay.

There are some great land-based activities too, both cultural and adrenalin-fuelled along with some great walks and beautiful beaches to while away sunny days. You mustn’t leave the area without exploring Northland’s wine trail and enjoying the local food markets.

The Bay of Islands NZ is the ideal base from which to explore the rest of Northland: south toTutukaka and the Poor Knights marine reserve; west to the rugged coast and the serene beauty of the Hokianga Harbour; north to Doubtless Bay, Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga.

Tours to these all areas can be booked right here. If you can’t find the activity or accommodation that suits you, just email the team and we’ll help you out with suggestions.

We want you to feel at home before you've even got here.
